Survive & Thrive: My Review of Monstrum 2
Monstrum 2 is a fantastic survival horror game that I recently had the pleasure of playing. The game allows for 2-5 players to team up in order to survive within Sparrowlock, a procedurally-generated sea labyrinth filled with lurking terrors. Alternatively, players can choose to become one of the monstrous entities that roam the maze in search of their next prey. What struck me as particularly impressive about Monstrum 2 was its ability to create an immersive and truly terrifying atmosphere. The sound design and visuals work together seamlessly to make every corner feel dangerous and unpredictable. Each monster has its own unique abilities and movements, making them challenging foes that require strategy and planning from those trying to evade them. One aspect that stood out to me was how well-balanced the gameplay felt between both sides - prisoners and monsters alike. Playing as either offered very different experiences – as a prisoner you must work together, communicate effectively while constantly on alert; whilst being a monster sends you down another path altogether blending features from classic hunting games (read Left4Dead or Evolve). This variety made each playthrough fresh and exciting; culminating in hours of fun online. Furthermore, teamwork is essential when it comes to escaping Sparrowlock's grasp alive - making communication skills vital within your group throughout your journey through this twisted labyrinthian structure. Balancing those skills against dominating as a Monster also gives addictive diversity where no two games play exactly same way twice! Overall Monstrum 2 gets my wholehearted recommendation for anyone who loves horror games packed full with challenging puzzles! It will leave additional adrenaline pumping paired alongside some great gaming memories long after controller sets back on shelf!
